The Akuapim South Municipal Assembly on 9th July, 2025 commissioned a Community based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Dumpong-Aburi to offer primary healthcare to the community.
In her opening remarks, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Lydia Akueteh, announced the purpose of the gathering, stating that, the CHPS compound has been under construction since 2013 and that she was elated finally its being commissioned for use.
The Municipal Health Director, Madam Emily Amponsah, retorted that, the facility has not been in operation since she was posted to the district in 2020 and expressed her profound gratitude for the commissioning. She shared that, the health facility comes with a borehole and a bungalow which would house health practitioners. She called for security for the facility and also pleaded with the Assembly to assist the community to get them access to internet as they rely heavily on it for medical drone deliveries and registration of patients.
In her remarks, she pleaded with the Assembly members and stakeholders to assist in paying of electricity bills as their meagre funds can't sustain the frozen medications and keep them in operation. She also called on the Assembly to provide for medical equipment to be used in attending to the community members.
The immediate past MCE (Hon. Frank Aidoo), stated that the facility is a gift to the community and its surrounding communities, thus. Agyanoa, Mariakrom, Oboadaka and its environs. He therefore charged them to maintain the facility internally and not rely on the Assembly entirely, adding that the nurses should serve with passion and can also fall on his outfit for any aid.
Akuapim South Municipal Assembly MCE, Hon. Paul Osae Offei, stressed on the importance of the community members to maintain the health facility. He therefore advised the members to desist from relying on the government to perform that duty always.
Also, he assured them that his outfit would provide necessary medical tools for swift delivery of health services. He admonished that, they should live cordially with the health practitioners, as they play a crucial role in saving their lives.
The Amankrado of Dumpong, Nana Deebo Okae expressed his profound gratitude to the Assembly for the commissioning and assured that they will mange it for prolong use.
Gracing the occasion were the MCE (Hon. Paul Osae Offei), immediate past MCE (Hon. Frank Aidoo), the Municipal Coordinating Director (Madam Lydia Akuerteh), Heads of Department, Traditional leaders, Health Practitioners, Assembly members and the Community members.
